Background
One of the largest companies in the mobile hydraulics industry with 9800 employees on more than 20 locations round the world that designs, manufactures and sells a complete range of engineered hydraulic, electric and electronic systems as well as components including mobile electronics.
Within the mobile electronics area the design and manufacturing of liquid crystal displays (LCD's) for outdoor use is one key element. For the displays to function at their best they have be above -10°C. In cold conditions this is a challenge and a heating element that is efficient, quick and reliable is essential in securing good operation.
Objective
Because there is a technology shift from old black and white monitors to colour outdoor LCD's the LCD's need to be heated in cold conditions in order to function properly and to consume as little energy as possible. In a for instance battery powered mobile application energy efficiency is of course far up on the manufacturers and the users’ wish list. In order to keep the display unit as small, easily mounted and handy as possible it is also required that as small and as few components are included in the product. This also is a question of manufacturing cost.
Solution
Conflux AB deliver an ultra thin ZPZ heating foil that ensures that the LCDs are at optimal temperature and thus at optimal capacity. Because of the inherent point wise temperature control and self regulation of the ZPZ heating foil it is ensured that the LCD is heated to the correct temperature where and when it is needed, never overheating. This also means that less energy is used because the foil only heats the areas that are too cold and is not wasting energy on the areas that are at the right temperature. Because of all these inherent properties manufacturing cost is reduced by having less switches, sensors and cables.
Benefits
Because of the unique ZPZ heating foil provided by Conflux AB the customer is able to save energy, effort and money when designing their display units with colour LCD's. The colour LCD will work satisfactory down to a -40°C environment. No extra switches or sensors are needed unlike for other competitor heating foils reducing cost by approximately 20% of manufacturing and labour. |
